Brussels, 14 December 2021 - Karel Joos has been appointed Head of the Belgian practice of Dentons Global Advisors Interel. He succeeds Florence Muls who has joined Engie.
The appointment of Karel Joos is in line with the strategic positioning of Dentons Global Advisors Interel, a leading public affairs, strategic communications and crisis communications consultancy active on the Belgian and European market.
Karel Joos is a recognized expert in all these fields. He has a long history of advising executives in the industry, technology, transport and logistics sectors, to name but a few. Over the years, he has built up an excellent reputation in the healthcare field, given his expertise in the reputation of pharmaceutical companies and in healthcare reimbursement.
A graduate in engineering and economics, before joining Interel in 2008, Karel Joos was, among other things, an advisor to the Minister-President of the Flemish Government and Director of the Cabinet of the Belgian Minister for Public Sector Enterprises. In this position, he oversaw the policy development of the Belgian railways, the postal services Bpost and the telecommunications operator Belgacom.
Karel Joos comments: "I am very pleased to take over the management of the Belgian practice of Dentons Global Advisors Interel. Especially at a time when companies operating in Belgium are increasingly in need of high quality advice. Since Interel has joined Dentons Global Advisors last summer, we can offer our clients in Belgium more advice and support in the areas of public affairs, crisis communication, strategic communication and reputation management. Our international reach provides a real pool of knowledge, experience and expertise, including in the areas of healthcare, climate and energy, but also in industry, utilities, banking and finance, and mobility and logistics. In addition, our clients can count on a professional and talented team to advise them on a daily basis. DGA Interel's Belgian practice is now more competitive than ever.”
The appointment of Karel Joos coincides with the arrival of Amaury De Saint Martin, a public affairs communicator who was, among other things, Inspector General at the City of Charleroi. He joins the Belgium practice of Dentons Global Advisors Interel as Director.
Karel Joos is also the author of "Lobbying", the first book in Belgium that analyses, explains and describes how companies can interact effectively with policy makers. This manual on corporate public affairs is now considered a reference book. In his latest book published in November 2021, "Boeie!", he explains how companies can exploit the potential of storytelling and apply its principles to public affairs consultancy.
